Rye Poets’ performances are collaborative and innovative. Jeremy Kingston, former theatre critic for The Times, wrote: ‘The interacting delivery was something I’d never seen before – outside chorus work in some productions of Greek drama.’

Rye Poets have performed at Dulwich, Nunhead and Sydenham festivals; in the crypt of St John’s in Waterloo; Christmas shows at Jeannie Avent. Also the Lovely Gallery, Bankside Gallery, Espacio in Shoreditch and Brixton East. They have appeared at Inside, a venue above L’Escargot in Soho. They perform regularly at the Ivy House.

Pia Goddard is a poet and fine art photographer. She has worked in teaching, publishing, and as a photojournalist. She has a BA in sculpture and an MA in Fine Art and Critical Theory. Pia is also a member of Southwark Stanza poetry group, and the South London Women Artists. Her writing includes poetry for children and adults, art reviews and short stories. She has been published in Magma, and is co-editor of the magazine ArtVerve.

Helen Adie has an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway College. She worked as an actress, and has been teaching Drama/English at JAGS in Dulwich. A published poet, she won the Havant Poetry Prize. Helen is an artist/printmaker and enjoys the collaborative process between different art forms, as well as drawing on her background in performance.

Joan Byrne was long-listed by Indigo Dreams First Pamphlet competition; won third prize in South Bank Poetry’s London Poems competition, judged by Mimi Khalvati. StepAway Magazine nominated her for the Pushcart Prize. Joan was Poetry Shed’s Featured Poet. Her work has been published in North Magazine, New River Press, Eye Flash Poetry, Obsessed With Pipework, Orbis, webzine Ink Sweat & Tears, and several anthologies. She likes the precision of words; her view of life is at a slant. An award-winning photographer, she has published photo books: Feckham Peckham and Grave Art through Blurb. She is a member of Southwark Stanza and South London Women Artists.
